The Texas Real Estate Commission Eliminated the Requirement for Proctored Exams

The Texas Real Estate Commission took action bbased on the ESAC Committee recommendation. It was deemed to be an unusual burden for students.

The removal of this requirement is intended to eliminate a hurdle that was unncessary.

Additionally, TREC removed the time requirement for completing courses with the exception that courses cannot be completed in less than 72 hours.

Since online courses can be completed in 72 hours and real estate courses at schools take an entire semester, online is the preferred method..

Texas Real Estate Commission Does Not Accept College Courses for the Core Licensing Requirements

Many people still think the Texas Real Estate Commission will grant credit for college courses. This was true in the past, but this was discontinued a long time ago. Currently, all new applicants for a real estate sales person license are required to meet the new licensing requirements

The new requirements stop the decades old practice of receiving credit for real estate or business related college courses. All applicants, even lawyers, must take the same courses.

TREC requires all applicants to first complete six - 30 hour courses for a total of 180 real estate course hours.

These six - 30 hour courses are referred to as QUALIFYING EDUCATION (QE) courses.
